I talked with my dad for a while yesterday, which when I call just to tell him I love him, often happens. He complimented me on growing up, and said that he is still reeling from the Purdue graduation ceremony. Since I'm the first child to graduate college, I'm sure by the time my brothers are done that sitting through three hour ceremonies will lose its luster.
He went on to say how great it is that I'm not an angsty, angry teenager anymore. Which, as much as he loves me, probably meant that from 2002-2006 that he hated my guts. I'm happy I never went through with lots of the things I wanted to when I was a teen, an am super glad that I don't have a tramp stamp* with the Aerosmith logo. (*I wanted this tattoo in 10th grade.) This teenager situation scares me about having kids because with my luck I'd have one that would be an even bigger shit than I was. Granted, it could have been worse if it hadn't been for my self-imposed celibacy, and the fact that I only wanted to listen to punk music and drink at sleepovers.
I'm really glad that I had this talk with my dad. He's my favorite, and after almost losing him twice, I make an effort to tell him that I love him everyday.
My mom has gotten a lot better, even going on to call Mark 'wonderful' when I told her he went to get me medicine for my crippling cramps. She's even hugged him twice, which for people I've dated is a first. I'm so glad my parents like him, because Mark is going to be around for quite a long time.

Oh yeah, and Mark got me a gorgeous ring for my graduation. I can't stop looking at it.
